Prior LONJ/Notes: Fred Redd, AGMA, AEA, is an experienced and versatile performer with experience in concert, opera, musical theatre, recitals, radio and television. His concert and opera work has taken him many times on the main stages of Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center on many occasions including a Live from Lincoln Center telecast as part of the PBS Great Performances Series. London's Opera Now magazine describes Fredrick as "a compelling vocal actor" and having "an excellent voice" in the Eugene O'Neill review. His Off-Broadway credits include King Herod in Sunset Salome, and the title role in Emperor Jones among others. His opera credits include principal roles with New York City Opera, Connecticut Grand Opera, Opera North, Opera Carolina, Teatro Grattacielo, Peidmont Opera, Houston Opera Ebony, Verismo Opera among others. Leading baritone roles he has performed include the following: Il Trovatore (Count di Luna), I Pagliacci (Tonio), Un Ballo in Maschera (Renato), Tosca (Scarpia), Carmen (Escamillo), Madama Butterfly (Sharpless), Aida (Amonasro), La Traviata (Germont), La Boheme (Marcello) among others and the title roles in Emporer Jones, Porgy & Bess, Nabucco, and Rigoletto. Fred's concert work include performances of over 20 oratorio works with orchestras including composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Bernstein, Faure, Handel, Haydn, Mahler, Mendelssohn, Mozart and Rossini among others. This season, Fred created the central character of James Hairston in the World Premier and live performance of Martinsville 7 with Trilogy Opera performed in August. Fredrick was also seen as Jean ValJean in spoofed rendition of the Les Miserable's One Day More in a virtual performance with the Creative Stage Spectacular. Other virtual concerts included Fred performing in 6 virtual concerts for Harwood’s Management featuring selected artists from both Opera and Musical Theatre rosters. Fred performed arias from the Messiah, Il Trovatore, South Pacific, Sweeney Todd, Emperor Jones, and Porgy and Bess. In September, Fredrick will perform in an American Songbook Concert in Kingston, NY. In the season prior to covid, Fred returned to Carnegie Hall's main stage as soloist in Mark Hayes’ Te Deum with Mid-America and returned to New York City Opera joining the cast in the world premiere of Stonewall. Other concert work included soloist in Puccini’s Messa di Gloria in Rochester, NY with the Penfield Symphony Orchestra, Escamillo in Carmen with the Downtown Symphony Orchestra. In June, he returned to Carnegie Hall's main stage as soloist in Mark Hayes’ Te Deum with Mid-America and returned to New York City Opera joining the cast in the world premiere of Stonewall.
