Auditions
Now accepting Audition Registrations for our upcoming production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. Preliminary auditions will be held in Basking Ridge, NJ on August 27 and September 3, 2026 with callbacks on September 5, 2026. In-person auditions strongly encouraged, but videos will be accepted if you cannot make either of the preliminary audition dates. If called back, you must be available in person on September 5. Rehearsals begin in October in Basking Ridge, NJ with performance the first weekend in December in Morristown, NJ. All roles open. Directed by Susan Speidel, Musical Direction by Thomas Juneau.
- Amahl: (Boy Soprano). A 12-year-old shepherd who uses a crutch to walk. He is excitable and has a vivid imagination. [Our license to perform this show stipulates that we must cast a boy in this role.]
- Mother: (Mezzo Soprano) An impoverished widow who agonizes about her son’s future.
- King Melchior: (Baritone) Noble, and compassionate, he is the eldest of the Three He carries gifts of gold.
- King Kaspar: (Tenor) A slightly eccentric, and easily excitable king who carries myrrh and brings gifts of magic tricks.
- King Balthazar: (Bass) A grand and regal king who carries frankincense.
- The Page: (Bass/Baritone) The Kings’ loyal but strict servant who watches over their treasure.
- Ensemble Roles: A chorus of shepherds, villagers, and dancers who celebrate and interact with the Kings.
