GABRIEL EISENSTEIN (tenor or high baritone) – A gentleman of independent means; an incorrigible, irresponsible philanderer, but very likeable.
ADELE (lyric coloratura) – Rosalinde’s maid; has a cunning sense of humor; fancies herself as a charmer and actress.
DR. FALKE (lyric baritone) – Notary, friend of Eisenstein; elegant, smooth-talking, sly-minded practical joker; rather sinister.
ALFRED (lyric tenor) – Italian opera singer of high C’s; former flame of Rosalinde; hoping to reignite their relationship behind her husband’s back; flamboyant and melodramatic.
FRANK (lyric baritone) – Prison warden; stolid, but inclined to silliness when persuaded to have a night out.
PRINCE ORLOFSKY (mezzo-soprano) – A blasé, bored Russian millionaire who gives lavish parties; broad-minded; kindly at heart.
IDA (soprano or mezzo-soprano) – Sister of Adele, whom she aids and abets; a ballerina; fond of a good time.
DR. BLINT (buffo tenor) – A none-too-competent fuddy-duddy lawyer; confused and foolish.
